Capt. Fred E. Bird

Fred E Birds first fishing trip to Montauk was aboard The Jigger, Captain Howie Carroll, Sr.’s  boat. By 1957,  he landed a job with the Viking Fleet and worked for Captain Carl Forsberg, the fleet’s  patriarch.

In 1961, he purchased his first boat and named it The Flying Cloud.

In 1969, he bought his second party boat, The Jigger, from Captain Howie Carrol, Sr.

This was the boat on which he made his first Fishing trip. He renamed the Flying Cloud II.

He partnered up in advertising with Captain  Dusty Doerzbecker and marketed Bird and Bearporgie fishing.

In 1977, he bought the boat that he presently has today, and on which he has been fishing the waters of Montauk for over sixty years.
